Witham St Hughs English Hub is one of 34 English Hubs selected to support and work with schools across our area to help every child become a confident, successful reader and develop a lifelong love of reading, regardless of their background, needs or abilities.
We support schools across Early Years, KS1, KS2 and KS3, providing fully funded intensive and medium-level support, alongside continuing professional development.
Our support is tailored to the needs of each school and key stage, focusing on:
- Early Years: Developing communication, language, vocabulary and early literacy skills to give children the best possible start.
- Key Stage 1: Strengthening early language development, phonics teaching and a love of reading.
- Key Stage 2: Supporting pupils who require further phonics teaching while developing reading fluency, accuracy and comprehension.
- Key Stage 3: Helping pupils with reading difficulties to develop their word reading, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension, so they can access the wider curriculum.
Through our support and professional development, we help schools strengthen their provision, improve outcomes for pupils and build the skills and confidence so that they become enthusiastic readers.
